PORSCHE DEALER IN NAPLES NOT RECOMMENDED by Steve Cox

If you are considering buying any car at "Porsche of Naples" consider the following:

(12/19/2011) EVIDENCE THAT THIS PORSCHE DEALER DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THEIR SERVICE.

My windshield needed to be replaced. After **4 trips to Porsche of Naples and 2 faulty windshield installation jobs, the Porsche of Naples service manager was not able to finish the job to my satisfaction. (Maybe I'm too hard to please.)

The rounded edge of the glass is exposed on over 50% windshield perimeter.
There are gaps big enough to fit a credit card between the glass and rubber molding.

The service manager at Porsche of Naples says that the windshield is functionally OK and my complaint was only about the way it looked.
End of story.

THERE'S MORE!!

10/10/2011. My 2008 Porsche wouldn't start, battery dead -- towed the car to Porsche of Naples.

The Porsche of Naples service department tested the battery and it was faulty. They installed a new battery and charged the discounted price of $369.

And why wasn't the battery covered under warrantee??

I called Porsche Customer Relations Department. They said to qualify for a battery replacement you must drive the car at least 6000 miles per year.
SO, my car was lease/purchased at Porsche of Naples on 9/21/2008 and it now (3 years later) has 18375 on the odometer. That's slightly more than 6000 miles per year, so it should be covered. The Porsche Customer Relations Department person agreed, she said call the dealer, ask for a refund.

The service manager at Porsche of Naples (Glenn Sharpe) said "unfortunately the battery tested Stratified"--caused by routinely not charging completely as when you don't drive enough or otherwise do not maintain properly. Porsche does not cover battery failures under those circumstances.

I reminded Glenn that I did drive the required miles and that Porsche of Naples performed all of the interval maintenance, so how could this be my fault? He said his hands are tied, they don't cover a battery that tests as "STRATIFIED".

But wait!
I faxed Glenn a copy of an Porsche of Naples invoice that proved the car was on the dealer lot for more than 1 year before I purchased it (see *note below) .
THIS CAR WAS SOLD TO ME WITH A BATTERY THAT WAS ABUSED BY THE DEALER FOR OVER 1 YEAR.
POSITIVE PROFF THAT THE BATTERY WAS DOOMED.

AGAIN!

PLEASE REFUND MY $369!!! ... Glenn--the service manager at Porsche of Naples appealed to the Porsche factory representative about covering the cost of the battery and the answer is still NO.

My car's VIN: WP0AB2985BU780763

*Note: Batteries tend to stratify if kept at low charge (below 80%) and never have the opportunity to receive a full charge. Short distance driving contributes to this. Beware of purchasing any car that has been on a dealer lot for more than a couple of months. Ask about the history of the car since it was new or since it was sold by a previous owner. Most reputable dealers will be happy to warrantee any battery that is suspect in these situations.
**As of this date my car has been back to the dealer 18 times since I purchased it in September of 2008. Twice for oil changes, the remainder of the visits were for various problems.
